Description

The hammer crush method is used to break down large pieces of a sample in order to make it an appropriate size for the small or large jaw crusher.

Procedure

• workspace_prep

• Take a single piece of rock and wrap it in at least two pieces of 8x11 inch office paper.

• Place another piece of paper over the steel plate. This will catch debris after crushing.

• Place the steel sample holder on the steel plate.

• Place the sample wrapped in paper insixe the sample holder.

• Use a handseld sledge hammer to break the sample into smaller pieces.

• Carefully remove the steel sample holder and becareful to collect the crushed material.

• Repeat the process if necessary.
